Do you ever see something so strange, you have to do a double take to be sure you saw what you thought you saw? This has happened to me a few times but most recently I looked out my front door and saw something so peculiar that I had to run and grab my camera and snap a photo. I live in a nice neighborhood. I am really not close to any farms to speak of. I am towards the outside of town but still, I am in town so needless to say when I saw this walking past my driveway I was a bit surprised.
Yes...it's a rooster. It's a rather beautiful rooster. I typically think of them as white and really big and mean looking but not this one. He had colorful feathers with a lot of browns and maroon type colors. He was running around the neighborhood, hopping up on porches and making a crying sound. I felt so sorry for it. I knew it was lost and I wonder if it was maybe even a pet with how pretty it was. The neighbors ended up getting it and I'm sure it got back to it's owner...but it was pretty cold out and the poor thing was lost. Still, how often do you see something like this? haha

I don't think I'm qualified to answer your question at the end of your post... reason is we have a whole lot of chickens here running around. Not mine, though, but the neighbors' :D
Roosters, hens, chicks -- running around :D
I'll try to take a pic and show you :)
When sober? Hardly ever.
The picture looks like a rooster afraid to cross the road.
Beautiful things come out of nowhere. Hope the rooster got home safely.
Looks like it could be a Red Jungle Fowlhun, but from that distance it could be any of a half dozen judgeing from the colouration... i need to stop visiting my mates gramps he breeds them, but free eggs and chicken too tempting not too *grins evily*
That was hilarious. A rooster? LOL. Nice photo opp. At least your neighbors got to it and not animal control...
That is very strange. It reminds me of the old joke. What did the roster cross the street. LOL
hi sandy - i hope that rooster got home safely but you know...here in our tiny country, you'll often see roosters if you are not in the city ( and i mean the business districts). ^_^
He must be wild rooster. Hope he safely gone back to his home.
