My dad passed away tonight. He lost his battle with pancreatic cancer at 10:23 p.m. on December 27, 2009. The obituary will say 11:30 because that is how Hospice logged it....but I held his hand as he took his last breath.
I got to his house at about 11:30 this morning. He moan and sort of yelled out at around 5 or 6 p.m. and did not breathe for a few seconds. This happened again a few minutes later. I knew it was going to be soon. Still, the whole thing has been surreal. It happened so fast. Even 2 weeks ago I still had hope he would make it, somehow. We had the surgery all lined up then they dealt us the horrible blow that he had pancreatic cancer. We brought him home, where he wanted to be.
I knelt by his bed, cried and held his hand as he left this world. The world has lost a great man, but heaven has gained a great soul. I love you dad. I miss you.

Damn girl. Just damn. I so hate that for you. I am glad you were there though.
Hugs.
The cool thing is is that you will see him again, he is pain free and peaceful and happy.
The hardest is on us, the ones left behind.
My heart is with you and your family.
i feel sorry for your loss.....may god give you all the strength while recovering from this loss.....
my wishes and prayers are with you......
I do not fear dying I know where I am going. However, I do fear for those I leave behind. It is those that have to cope. I am so sorry for your loss and how quickly it happened after you had such hope.
Grieving is a process, I pray that you survive your process. One front in front of the other friend.
I'm so sorry for your lost. May he rest in peace...
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your whole family.
Hi Sandi,
staying strong in this situation is difficult, there are too many emotions inside of ourselves when somebody you so close has died.
Hope it helps you when you can cry as this is for me the best medicine in this situation. It cleans your emotional soul and afterward you can smile and laugh when you think of HIS SMILES and the laughter you had together with him.
Be happy for your dad, he knows that you will keep him in his heart and he will be around you, too.
We will pray for your dad and your family!
Today, have a "happy" Birthday!
I know what it's like to lose a dad. I'm so sorry for your loss.
for your loss
I'm so sorry for your loss, losing a father is something that can't be explained in words, especially at this time of year. You'll be in my thoughts!
so sorry for your lost. it has been hard on me losing my mom the same way to cancer. Out=r Hope stayed strong even to the end. I will be thinking of you and your family as you lay him to rest.
I'm very sorry for your loss. I personally know how devastating this type of cancer can be, having lost my granddad from it in 1985. I was only young then, and I couldn't understand how he had seemed okay one day and just a few days later he was bedridden and I couldn't see him.
It's one of the worst cancers and even now, over 20 years later, there haven't been many advances in treatment. I'm sorry and if it's any consolation just know that he's at peace now and not suffering. Best wishes to you and your family.
