The Duck Face

That's my name for the "sexy" face I see so many women making in pictures online. I'm sure I don't have any condemning evidence of me out there doing this. The worst one I have seen is Miley Cyrus. I could care less about all the horrible things she has done or how weird her and her dad's relationship is or whatever. I don't have an opinion on those things. What does annoy me is this stupid duck face. I'll just link the pics. I found these doing a random search.

Duck Face ONE

Duck Face Two and ummm I think she's not fully clothed.

There are more, but oh you get the point. I see so many young girls and even middle aged women posing like that and honestly I have to ask....is this sexy? Is it really? That's not a pouty lip. A pout is more subtle and not forced like a duck. It's one of my pet peeves. :)

So...here's my impression of the duck lips. Yes...I had to do it. I have a sense of humor.

But I'm linking it because who wants to see that all over this page really?

Stupid Economy

Well, it really has hit home now. We kind of knew it would sooner or later. My husband did not lose his job but took a large enough pay cut that seriously, it's going to kill us. I have to think of something and soon just to make ends meet. Honestly I know everyone is feeling this now. I knew we were only seeing the beginning of this thing and I am just wondering where it's going to leave us when it's over. I am ranting today and I think most people can sympathize because we have all been hit. This is going to be rough. I just hope we can somehow make it through this. I still have a holy ton of medical bills to pay off. I get new ones all the time. I guess I'll try and think of the positives and be glad we still have medical insurance.

Is Dora the Explorer Getting Naughty?

OK. I am not a sick pervert. haha No, I found this online today really by accident. I heard they were making Dora grow up. They were trying to target the older kids and parents were throwing a fit. OK. I expected to see a totally Bratz type Dora. I expected a Barbie type mini skirt or a halter top. All they had was this silhouette:

I'm going to give my honest opinion here and say, this doesn't "seem" all that bad. I see puffed sleeves, a skirt of reasonable length and long flowing hair. I expected much worse from all the hype. Basically they are keeping old Dora and making a newer, more grown up Dora for the 10 year old crowd. I really tried to think of something bad here and I can't. I figure it's just a new show. I really do not think Dora looks like she's letting it all hang out in that little silhouette there. To each their own of course. I do respect every one's opinion but I just feel there are much bigger things to worry about in this day and age.

The Birthday

We had a decent turnout for the birthday party last night. It seems everyone had some ailment though. My brother in law who usually sings a lot was losing his voice. My good friend Allecia was recovering from a migraine, and another friend had just had hip surgery and was therefore on crutches. I chuckle as I sit here and think how a party would be when my husband is turning oh say 75 instead of 35.

Regardless we had a good time. The hubby certainly had a great time. I sang a bit and began to lose my voice from talking and singing too much. I didn't really get much for pics. I sort of just let my camera sit there and we only snapped a few of the party...but I did get some from before it started. haha Those were from my camera phone though. I am pretty tired since everyone finally left around 3 a.m. I could use a nap. Enjoy the pics!

Ever See Something So Strange

Do you ever see something so strange, you have to do a double take to be sure you saw what you thought you saw? This has happened to me a few times but most recently I looked out my front door and saw something so peculiar that I had to run and grab my camera and snap a photo. I live in a nice neighborhood. I am really not close to any farms to speak of. I am towards the outside of town but still, I am in town so needless to say when I saw this walking past my driveway I was a bit surprised.

Yes...it's a rooster. It's a rather beautiful rooster. I typically think of them as white and really big and mean looking but not this one. He had colorful feathers with a lot of browns and maroon type colors. He was running around the neighborhood, hopping up on porches and making a crying sound. I felt so sorry for it. I knew it was lost and I wonder if it was maybe even a pet with how pretty it was. The neighbors ended up getting it and I'm sure it got back to it's owner...but it was pretty cold out and the poor thing was lost. Still, how often do you see something like this? haha

When Are We Officially Old?

Just kidding really. My husband turns 35 on Friday. I like to tease him because he's got a couple of years on me. I figure everyone does it to themselves. You hit 20 and you're freaking out because you aren't a teen anymore, but hey you have your 21st to look forward to. After that you start to wonder if you have no other birthdays to look forward to, other than getting older. Oh but wait! Insurance drops at 25. So you look forward to that. As 30 looms near you think OH MY GOD. I am not in my 20's anymore. I'm old...and you have a mid life crisis. You go out and buy oh say a Harley? Ha! Others might buy a sports car or look down and see they are wearing outdated clothes with an outdated hairdo and change that up. Ladies if you look up and your bangs are still super tall and stiff with Aqua Net you are kinda stuck in the 80's. Just saying!

Anyway, 35 to my husband seems way too close to 40. I look at it like this. Next year he'll be saying he's 36. Oh no! That's closer to 40 than to 30! Then of course on and on. I myself try to just age gracefully. I get carded on occasion. I'll just enjoy it while it lasts.

Dreaming of My Guitar

Well, I haven't had much opportunity at all to practice my guitar since I bought it. The trouble being the very afternoon I bought it I started feeling sick. I then got worse as the day progressed and was sick most of the week. Finally I am feeling up to par and of course my daughter is sick so I am spending all my time caring for her. So there the guitar sits...staring back at me, taunting me. I may just have to make some time tonight. I did manage to strum a bit and I am going through a book learning the basics. Still, I think I could use an actual instructor. I think it would help. Another thing that I have to do but am dreading? Getting rid of my fingernails. It may seem trivial but I know they cannot be too long. I am ready to say goodbye to the length to accomplish this goal though.
