Things People Do That Seem Less Than Bright

I saw a scene similar to this picture today. Not this photo but something close. I was shopping today. It was storming pretty good but had no choice but to run in and get a few things. On the way out I stood waiting in front for my ride to pull up. I am pretty lucky and got front door service. I was spared from getting wet smooshed hair and dripping mascara. Thank God! I saw a woman however who didn't have this luxury. She had to run out to her car and I guess not getting her hair wet was more important than possibly risking her life. She grabbed a plastic shopping bag and put it over her head. Not just on the top...all the way and held it closed at the bottom of her neck. She then dashed for her car. I wondered two things. First, how can she see? And second, how long will it take for her to faint? I mean...I understand not having wet hair but is it worth your life? I couldn't help but chuckle. She made it to her car safely. I never did get a good look at the hairdo she saved from the rain because I never noticed her until she had shoved the bag over her head and didn't see her close up again because she got into her car. Ooooh well. It made for an interesting wait for my ride!! :)

Do You Believe in Hypnotism?

I can honestly say I've always been "open" to the idea but not really sure how it worked. I don't close my mind to things but never was quite sure if something like that could work on me. Medically speaking it's a lot different than it would be at say a comedy club. That's what I am speaking of here. A few years ago a group of my friends and myself went out to a comedy club and there was a hypnotist there. He just so happened to call my entire group on the stage. We were the guinea pigs for the night.
I was nervous because honestly it was hard to hear this guy up on stage. He starts telling us to close our eyes and relax and the whole deep sleep bit. I of course was just sitting there with my eyes closed straining to hear him, to make sure I did what he told me to do. In other words, it was having no affect on me. He claimed that you wouldn't "feel" hypnotized when you actually were. He also said if he tapped your shoulder that perhaps it won't work on you and to sit down. I was probably up on stage a total of maybe 10 minutes before I had to go sit. I was bummed it didn't work on me. My husband claims it did not work but he was up there the whole time doing things you would not imagine. He had a trigger word and had to do something each time the word was spoken. It was pretty hilarious.
I had one friend with me whom I thought could have really been hypnotized because she did things I really couldn't imagine her doing otherwise. Then towards the end of the show she was the only one left on stage. The hypnotist told her she was stiff as a board and then proceeded to flip her around and she was so stiff...like she couldn't bend. He then put her feet on one chair, then just her upper half on another chair. He then asked a larger woman to come out of the audience and stand on her stomach. My friend didn't even bend. She held that woman's weight without so much as a grimace on her face. My hubby is still convinced the whole thing is a stupid hoax because he says he was not hypnotized but doing what I was doing...whatever the guy told us to do. However my friend did some pretty ummmmm risky things up there and her husband was LESS than pleased. She had no idea after the show why he was mad. He was mad about how the hypnotist flirted with her openly and asked her to do things. Regardless I will not go into that. I never was sure if maybe just a small percentage of people can by hypnotized or if my friend was a great actress! lol

Mmmmmm Warm Weather!
Seriously that's how delicious warm weather seems to me right now. I want sun! I want to wear my tank tops and shorts!! I am so ready to not go outside without a coat on! No more ice, no more snow....give me warmth! Ahem...ok. Well, as many might know, winter in Illinois can be rough. This year was particularly bad due to the lack of salt to put on the roads. The roads were hideous this year. I cannot imagine how many accidents there were. I am so happy to walk outside without the wind chill biting my face. Goodbye dry skin! Goodbye chapped lips!!! Hello swimsuit! The swimsuit above is the one I bought last year and never got the chance to wear. Obviously it's on a Victoria's Secret model in the picture....but you get the idea.

Do Snakes Freak You Out?
Really they don't bother me. As a kid I went out of my way to catch a snake. Seriously I had a method. I live in Illinois so my chances of catching a poisonous snake were much more slim but still, I probably shouldn't have been chasing after snakes. They still fascinate me although I won't be trying to capture them again any time soon.
This picture was taken at a local wildlife park. This guy came out to greet us. I got some great pics and I am getting a bit anxious for warm weather so I can get out and see the beauty of this place and all the animals again soon.
It might surprise some, being the feminine girl I am now but as a kid I was pretty tom boyish. I liked to play with matchbox cars in the mud. My favorite game was cops and robbers or cowboys and Indians. Those were the old days. I also loved collecting spiders and grasshoppers. My poor poor mother. I would catch as many large grasshoppers as I could out of our garden and stuff them into a big white bucket my mom used for things. I took the bucket, caught grasshoppers all day long, filled the bucket, and put the lid on and forgot about it. Horrible I know! I was like 7. Anyway my mom never failed to come outside, find the bucket and mumble to herself about why it was outside and she'd take off the lid and guess what? Ohhhhh yes. A face full of grasshoppers anxious to get out of the bucket.
I'm sorry mom. LOL

Is There Anything You've Ever Really Wanted to Do?
Well I have had a few things. First, I love to sing. That's obvious and I've stated it many times. Second, I love to draw and I like to draw lifelike portraits. I got a book and improved my skills until I thought I was pretty good.
Now I haven't finished anything in awhile. I have a drawing sitting on the back burner. I will finish it soon. I do sometimes get working on something and then sort of fall away from it. I always finish it...even if it takes awhile.
Well there are more things I wanted to do. I wanted to crochet. So I taught myself. I can do that well now too. I have no pics of any of the blankets or purses I made but I can do it, I assure you. I have a list of things I'd love to do. It's a mental list. I have never written anything down. The one big thing I have always dreamt of and never thought would happen, is playing the acoustic guitar. I just never thought it was a possibility. Until recently that is. I got a guitar. It's a nice one too. I will post more about that later. Yesterday I got out a book and started learning. This is something I have always wanted and with my personality, I know I will do it. I love music and I love singing. Playing and singing together is just that much better. My fingers are sore today from practicing but I know I haven't seen anything yet. Well I am ready for it. :) It's the next big thing for me! I already read music. I am a flutist. Yes I play the flute. So I figure I have that going for me. At least that is one thing I already know. I'll post my progress on this blog now and then, and who knows, maybe a video or two at some point. This blog is about anything and everything, not just one thing...so it's not going to ever be just about me learning but it will be discussed now and then.
The one thing that kind of sucks today is the fact that I have a terrible cold. I feel flu-ish so I doubt I'll get much practice in today. I can't seem to wake up and my eyes are feeling sore looking at this computer so maybe tomorrow I can put more effort into it. Until then....I'll dream of guitars.

It Was a Great Show

I went to see the local bands as I previously stated. The bands were awesome. My sister rocked the house in her new band. I was pleased and I think the full packed house showed that everyone else was too! We had an awesome time. Here are a few pics from the night.
